On the large Saturday, after 20:00, Zelenski posted an entry on the Telegram platform. He recalled that the proposal for a "full and unconditional ceasefire for 30 days" remained unanswered by Russia for 39 days. As he stressed, the initiative came from the United States and was welcomed by Ukraine – unlike Russia, which ignored it.
"If now Russia is abruptly ready to enter the format of full and unconditional silence, Ukraine will act mirrorically – as the Russian side will do. Silence in consequence to silence, blows in defence of impact" wrote Zelenski president of Ukraine, who proposed that Putin extend the truce besides after the end of the holiday:
"If there is indeed a full silence, Ukraine proposes to extend it besides after the end of Christmas day on April 20. This will show Russia's actual intentions, due to the fact that 30 hours is adequate for headlines, but not for real assurance building. 30 days can give you a chance at peace."
According to the reports of the Chief Commander, Russian artillery is inactive firing on Ukrainian positions, and the assaults continue. “Therefore, there is no assurance in the words coming from Moscow,” noted the leader of Ukraine.
He added, "We know besides well how Moscow manipulates, and we are always ready for anything. Ukraine's defence forces will act rationally, responding mirrorly. all Russian attack will be the right answer".
The president of Ukraine besides reported that at 21:30 and 22:00 he would receive detailed reports from the Chief Commander of the Syrian Alexander after his talks with brigade commanders and another units on the front.
Putin declared "the Easter truce"
As we wrote on Temat.pl, on April 19, TASS news agency reported that Vladimir Putin announced an Easter truce in the war with Ukraine.
– Russia will halt all military activities from 6:00 p.m. Moscow time (17 Polish time) 19 April to 00:00 Moscow time (h. 23 Polish time) 21 April – announced Vladimir Putin.
In his speech, the Russian president besides expressed hopes that Ukraine would follow in Moscow's footsteps. “We presume that the Ukrainian side will follow our example,” he said. Zelenski's answer came shortly later.
"As for Putin's next effort with people's lives – an air alarm has now been issued in Ukraine. At 5:15, Russian strike drones were recorded in our sky. Ukrainian air defence and aviation have already begun protective action. 'Shachids' in our sky – this is Putin's real approach to Easter and people's lives," wrote the Ukrainian president.
