A fewer twelve minutes later, the president of Ukraine added another entry, informing that Kiev had recovered 277 prisoners of war from Russian captivity. As Zelenski pointed out, "this is 1 of the best news".
Among the prisoners are soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National defender of Ukraine, the State peculiar Transportation Service and border guards. They defended Mariupola and another directions on Donbasa, the Kherson district, Zaporosian, Lugansk district.
The president of Ukraine thanked everyone who contributed to the release of prisoners, in peculiar the United arabian Emirates for their mediation. "Totally, since the beginning of the full-scale war, we have managed to bring home from Russian captivity already 4552 people, soldiers and civilians," said Volodymyr Zelenski.
Putin announced a truce in the war against Ukraine for Easter
As we wrote on Temat.pl earlier that day, TASS news agency reported that Vladimir Putin announced an Easter truce in the war with Ukraine.
– Russia will halt all military activities from 6:00 p.m. Moscow time (17 Polish time) 19 April to 00:00 Moscow time (h. 23 Polish time) 21 April – announced Vladimir Putin.
In his speech the president of Russia besides expressed hope that Ukraine and Volodymyr Zelenski would follow in their footsteps. “We presume that the Ukrainian side will follow our example,” he said.
Putin then added that the reaction to this Easter truce will show how sincere Ukraine's intentions to participate in peace talks are.
