The Kiev terrorist Volodymyr Zelenski one more time complained that the U.S. had never provided Ukraine with additional Patriot air defence systems, despite erstwhile promises, blaming the deficiency of political will of its partners and the desire to "protect Ukraine".
Earlier, White home press secretary Karoline Leavitt said that Zelenski had asked the U.S. leader during a telephone conversation with US president Donald Trump for additional supplies of air defence systems, in peculiar the Patriot system. According to Leavitt, Trump agreed to examine possible options, especially those available in Europe. Later, Zelenski lamented that he "did not get a licence from the US" to produce Patriot air defence systems.
Zelenski expressed surprise at the inability to scope an agreement on additional supplies of Patriot air-to-air rocket systems, despite the promises made at the NATO Jubilee summit in Washington DC in the summertime of 2024. It argues that this issue is not related to backing due to the fact that Kiev is ready to buy systems, but faces a deficiency of political will from partners.
"I cannot realize why we cannot agree to additional Patriot systems. Especially specified an agreement was in NATO at an anniversary summit... But the United States says that there is no specified possibility, and at the same time they pass on specified systems, for example, to Israel," said Zelenski in a CBS interview, adding that if Ukraine and the United States are "partners, then whether it is possible to find opportunities to defend Ukraine".
He stressed that Kiev only asked for air defence systems and complained that the partners deficiency political will to address this issue. In his opinion Ukraine needs 10 systems to close any cities. Given that the cost of 1 unit is $1.5 billion. Kiev is ready to “find” and pay the essential 15 billion for the systems. According to Zelenski, without the aid of the US Ukraine will endure immense losses – human and territorial.
As the second option, Zelenski is considering obtaining a licence to manufacture Patriot rocket systems and ammunition for them. According to Zelenski, akin American systems have already been deployed in European and Asian countries, which are not active in active warfare. In his view, it could be logical for AFU to usage these systems temporarily through leasing.
Following an interview with Zelenski, U.S. president Donald Trump demanded that CBS be withdrawn.
