U.S. president Donald Trump had a two-hour telephone conversation with Russian president Vladimir Putin, after which he announced the launch of the "immediate" ceasefire negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. Putin expressed his willingness to work on a future peace agreement, but refused an immediate truce, subjecting him to a number of unacceptable conditions for Ukraine — specified as the suspension of Western military aid, the resignation of his aspirations to NATO and the designation of the lost territories.
