Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenski confirmed that US president Donald Trump's envoy, Steve Witkoff, is going to Russia on Wednesday. “We will see what Putin has to say,” said Ukrainian leader after talks with Witkoff present in Oslo.
Zelenski said at a press conference after the gathering that he wanted US representatives to pass on the peace proposals to Russia. He stressed that he himself was ready to negociate and called for a tripartite gathering of Ukrainian, US and Russian leaders.
Witkoff, after visiting Oslo, was to go to talks to Russia, had previously informed the media.
Witkoff will fly to St. Petersburg on Wednesday for a gathering with the Russian leadership – besides confirmed the host of Tuesday negotiations, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere.
Witkoff himself did not attend the press conference after the talks.
