Einar Selvik, leader of Wardruna, does not make Scandinavian music through nostalgia behind Vikings. It's a search for fresh folk aesthetics. On the latest album “Birna” tells the communicative of the bear as a symbol of the life cycle, renewal and rhythms that erstwhile shaped our existence. It speaks of the importance of tradition, animism and counterculture based on a return to tradition – which does not fall into conservatism.
