Grief after Chatbot: How ChataGPT update sparked global panic

In early August, OpenAI introduced a long-awaited update of ChataGPT. The fresh model was intended to be a response, among another things, to signals about parasocial relationships that users were referring to artificial intelligence. Reactions to the update showed the scale of the problem: mass protests, complaints on forums and social media were full of not only method complaints about a malfunctioning program, but besides very human feelings of mourning, failure and longing.
