Modern and tested unmanned systems will rapidly be utilized for equipment of the Polish Army, which will increase the safety of soldiers and the defence possible of the state. The decision on this matter, signed on Friday by the Secretary of State in the MON of Cezary Tomczyk, will let to consolidate the dissipated competences in the area of investigating unmanned equipment.
– This month, according to erstwhile announcements, the latest solutions from the marketplace – presently at the final of the tests under the “Iron Defender 25” exercise – will go to the Polish Army – announced Deputy Minister of National Defence Cezary Tomczyk. Today, the Secretary of State in the MON signed a decision concerning investigating of unmanned aircraft, unmanned weapons systems and their means of combating them in the Armed Forces of Poland. “In the face of expanding threats, we simplify the strategy of acquiring innovative technologies for the army. As a result, Poland is gaining real capacity to respond effectively to contemporary challenges," added Tomczyk. Thanks to the fresh regulations, the military will be able to get the latest drones and systems to combat them much more quickly.
Transparent and competitive
Decision No 123/MON of 12 September 2025 on the organisation and investigating modes in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland of unmanned aircraft and unmanned weapons systems and their control measures clarifies the procedures resulting from Specific rules for the preparation and implementation of strategical investments in the field of state defence or public securitywhich entered into force on 6 September.
As provided for in Article 2(5) of the peculiar Act, the provisions of the Public Procurement Law do not apply in the event of the acquisition by the military of unmanned systems which have successfully undergone erstwhile tests, and the consent to their acquisition has been given by the Minister of National Defence. Therefore, it was essential to specify what the word "tested in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland" and the mode of carrying out specified tests meant.

According to the adopted solutions, tests will be carried out by the organisational units of the Ministry of Defence indicated in Home defence Act. MON ensures that the investigating procedure is transparent, competitive and uniform for all operators. Manufacturers and suppliers will besides undergo simplified counter-intelligence verification. Tests on the Iron Defender
During the ongoing maneuvers ‘Iron Defender ’25’, the largest training task of the Polish Army this year, are conducted tests of modern technological solutions that can support the implementation of the strategical defence objectives of the National Fear and defence Programme "Tarcza East". These were selected by peculiar groups of experts of the General Staff of the Polish Army from over half a 1000 proposals submitted by manufacturers, suppliers and academic centres to the Department of Innovation of the MON. Specialists have selected 200 innovative tools and systems, of which nearly 40 are presently investigating soldiers of the 18th Mechanized Division and territorial defence troops, checking their application in practice. Unmanned land and air systems, as well as radars, detectors and another solutions to increase situational awareness and the effectiveness of defence activities, are peculiarly important.
