Zakopane. Construction of the S7 Krakow–Thinking expressway
In the beginning 2022. GDDKiA proposed six corridors for the construction of the S7 Krakow-Myśleenice expressway (each 3 to 5 km wide). The corridor survey covered an area of almost 3,000 km2in 7 districts and 34 municipalities. They were all protested by residents and local governments. The Directorate proposed the creation of a corridor jointly by local authorities. There was a proposal from a squad appointed by the authorities of Krakow, but it did not receive recognition. Local governments themselves have not reached a compromise on the construction of a fresh burial ground.
Half On March 2024, an agreement was signed for the improvement of a method and environmental study (STEŚ) for the construction of the S7 Kraków–Myślenice expressway. At the end of this or at the beginning of next year data on the work to date are to be presented.
The contractor has a truly good occupation to do. He has to collect quite a few data from a very large area. We agreed at a gathering with local governments that specified data that we will filter as a manager and investor will be passed on to them at the end of the year or at the turn of the year – Robert Jakubiak, deputy investment manager at the GDDKiA Kraków branch, told us: We do not want to share any analyses that are not complete so as not to simply make social ferments and unnecessary emotions.
Zakopane. Exact mileage of the S7 Krakow–Myśleenice expressway
Soon to be presented eight proposed S7 road runsthe beginnings of which will be located in the area from Skawina junction to Niepołomice motorway junction. These will be the runs from appropriate road cross-section, pre-designed with niveletwhich will find whether a part of the way runs in a dig, after a embankment, tunnel or estakade.
Each of these proposals that the designers are examining is promising. Each has good and bad sides. On the another hand, we want to consult the public so that the inhabitants of these municipalities are full aware of what we will be facing together. Of course, it will be a long-term process, due to the fact that we want to choose 3 of these 8 that will be introduced into the environmental decision. The area is very large. It is besides a large challenge for us to leave Kraków – explained Robert Jakubiak.

What about the old Kraków-Thinking Burial?
One of the options presently under consideration is modernization of current DK7 trenches to express standards. This is being taken into account due to the fact that it was the public voices to do so. We request to take all the pros and cons to have arguments later on with the local community. Robert Jakubiak stressed.
At the end of this phase of preparation, an environmental decision is to be obtained. GDDKiA plans to do so about six years after signing a contract with the STEŚ contractor. It is worth noting that if to build fresh burial ground will be a challenge for tunnel experts, as each of the earlier corridors proposes underground facilities – at least three, most five.
S7 expressway, a fresh burial site
To the south of Krakow, drivers have S7-Zakopianka from Myślenice to Rabki-Zdrój, 32 km long. In 2026, the full S7 way (we usage over 590 km, and the mark dimension is 700 km) will most likely deficiency just a tiny fragment of Kraków-Myśleenice.
