Two proposals were made in Parliament for changes to the agenda of commercial Sundays due to the upcoming Christmas Eve, which falls on the trade Sunday. The Law and Justice organization has undertaken to amend the ban on trade on Sundays due to this situation. Both projects, 1 submitted by PiS, the another by Poland 2050, went to the Sejm. In view of the forthcoming deadline, which requires a decision, it is not excluded that parliamentarians will be forced to resolve this issue at the next sitting.
There is time force due to the fact that these changes concern the coming trade Sundays, and so decisions must be taken rapidly to let both traders and consumers to adapt to possible fresh regulations. It is besides worth noting that this situation may make any tensions and discussions between the various parliamentary groups, as each of them has its own approach to the regulation of trade on Sundays and on Christmas Eve solutions, an crucial event for society. In addition, changes in trade law can have a crucial impact on the functioning of shops, commercial workers and overall marketplace dynamics, which further complicates this situation.
Changes to the ban on trade. Last bell for the Sejm
This year's Christmas buying plans will require a fresh approach. alternatively of conventional purchases for December 24, erstwhile it would usually be possible to make final preparations, people will be sent to stores as early as December 10 for half a day. This confusion stems from problematic legal provisions on trade on Sunday and Christmas.
On the 1 hand, the Act restricting trade on Sundays considers 24 December to be a commercial Sunday. On the another hand, the same act prohibits hiring workers to work in trade on that day and on Saturday immediately preceding the first day of the large Night. In addition, there is simply a evidence that after 14:00 on 24 December it is prohibited to entrust work to employed persons.
The fresh draft provided for by Law and Justice proposes a ban on trade on Sunday 24 December, but for this to enable purchases on 10 December. On the 1 hand, this is simply a consequence to consumer expectations and the request for trade, and on the another hand, it is limited to trade only until 14:00.
The 2050 task proposes that if Christmas Eve is on a commercial Sunday, the 2 preceding Sundays (17 and 10 December) would be commercial days, while on 24 December the shops would be closed.
But the decision must be made quickly. Traders inactive do not know whether the shops will be open on December 10, which generates logistics problems: how to stock the shops for that day, how to set the work graphics etc. The next chance to discuss the changes will take place at the session of the Sejm on Tuesday 28 November.
