ORLANDO– On September 30, a man allegedly assaulted his girlfriend during the flight by forcibly grabbing her hand, placing her fingers into his mouth, and biting them in front of her toddler aboard a United Airlines (UA) flight.
The flight was scheduled from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). The suspect, identified as Robert Peck III, has been charged with assault following the incident on United Airlines flight UA545.

United Passenger Assaults Girlfriend
The altercation began approximately 10 minutes into the flight. Peck, seated with his girlfriend and her toddler toward the rear of the aircraft, allegedly engaged in a verbal dispute with the victim before escalating the situation.
He reportedly pulled her hand toward his face, shoved several fingers into his mouth, and bit down with force.
The victim managed to pull her now bleeding fingers away as Peck allegedly continued yelling at her. Witness accounts state he showed no concern for her injuries and instead threatened to bite her again, reported PYOK.

Threats and Physical Harm Reported
Court records indicate Peck also verbally threatened the victim, saying he “should have slit her throat” and threatened to punch her.
At another point, he allegedly grabbed her arm with such force that finger-shaped bruises were left on her bicep.
Despite these threats, the victim chose not to escalate the confrontation further. She quietly endured the remainder of the flight, tending to her injuries until the plane landed in Washington, where she discreetly sought assistance.

Response and Legal Proceedings
Once United Airlines flight UA-545 touched down at Washington Dulles, the victim alerted a flight attendant about the assault. Cabin crew then contacted medical personnel to assist the woman and notified authorities about the situation.
Peck was immediately detained after landing. According to the criminal affidavit, he later admitted to grabbing and biting the victim during questioning. Authorities confirmed he was charged with assault and is under a court order to undergo a mental health evaluation.
According to court documents filed in Virginia, Peck was arrested upon arrival at Washington Dulles (IAD) and later released on bail with conditions, including mandatory mental health testing.
Following his release on bail, Peck is expected to return to court on November 18, 2025. Until then, he remains under legal restrictions as part of his release conditions.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about in-flight safety and the responsibilities of airlines in addressing disruptive or violent passenger behavior.

The assault on United Airlines flight UA-545 underscores the serious consequences of disruptive passenger behavior.
