Press release after demonstration on 1 December 2024.

“YES for education! NOT for depravity!”

Warsaw, 1 December 2024.

More than 15,000 parents with children, teachers, pedagogues, doctors, representatives of all social groups and professions, gathered on 1 December 2024, at noon, at a large manifestation in the Castle Square in Warsaw under the slogan “YAK – for education, NO – for depravity!”. The event was organized by the Coalition for the Salvation of the Polish School, comprising about 80 non-governmental organizations, and by the National Education and Education Section of the NSZZZ “Solidarity”.

The assembly protested against revolutionary changes in the education strategy introduced by the Ministry of National Education with Minister Barbara Nowacka. Destructive changes included eliminating 20% of content from the programming base, including patriotic and Christian and cognitive, limiting the anticipation of homework, discriminating students attending religion. These changes, as well as the progressive alleged inclusive education, which aims to destruct peculiar schools, dramatically reduce the level of teaching and safety in Polish schools and violate the authority of teachers.

Special emotions have sparked the MEN's intention to introduce a fresh compulsory subject called wellness education, which is to be implemented from the 4th grade of primary school from September 2025 and to replace voluntary HED. As part of the alleged wellness education, students are obliged to absorb elements of permissive sexual education. The negative emotion is besides caused by civic education, in which the ideology of climateism is promoted, resulting in the jumping pauperization of Polish society and content referring to the pedagogy of shame, which destroys the basis of pride from the undeniable historical achievements of Poles.

Speakers of social and union organisations, the planet of discipline and the media pointed out that the model of sexual education, which Minister of Education Barbara Nowacka wants to impose on all school children, is an anti-health and toxic model. Sexuality is presented there in isolation from the context of family, marriage, parenthood, and focuses on providing pleasance without restrictions and obligations. Students would learn about autosexual behavior, sexual orientation, sex identity and various forms of sexual activity. Speakers pointed out that the introduction of this kind of compulsory sex education to schools would hit and lead to the undisturbed psychosexual improvement of children. This is besides a crucial violation of the rule of parental parenthood guaranteed by the Constitution.

Finally, the organizers appealed to thousands of demonstrators present in Castle Square not to quit their fight for the welfare of Polish students and to respect the right of parents to rise children according to their own beliefs. They besides expressed hope that the representatives of the planet of politics, at the heart of these values, will hear the voice of Polish parents and will do anything to halt the revolutionary march begun by the current Minister of Education.

The event featured celebrated songs performed by Jan Pietrzak and beautiful singing by Błażej Grzegorczyk. For children and young people, a peculiar attraction was the artistic performance with the participation of the figures of Polish national heroes, removed from the programme basis as part of the "weight loss" by MEN.

The manifesto ended with a strong unifying accent. The choral words were read Obligations of Polish parents to defend “the innocence of children”, “the rights of parents” and “right teachers” and then a surviving shield in national colours was placed – a symbol of the Polish school.
