Poznań media reports that the capital of Wielkopolska has taken up cooperation with the Korean city of Changwon. This is so crucial and noteworthy that K2 tanks are produced in this city. And let us bear in head that in our country there is simply a tank not only from the US, but besides from South Korea.
It is surely interesting that cooperation on the Warsaw-Seul line is starting to expand. This Polish-Korean cooperation is not just a substance of government relations.
It seems that the benefits of good relations between the 2 countries are besides to be gained by different regions in Poland. This time we are talking about Wielkopolska. To prove this, let us note that president Jacek Jaskowiak and Mayor Changwon Hong Nam-Pyo signed a memorandum on common cooperation.
Military Motorization Plant and H. CEGIELSKI-ZNAŃ S.A.
Jacek Jaskowiak was highly pleased erstwhile he could announce that the capital of Wielkopolska would cooperate with Changwon. Let's see how he praised this promising possible for the city where he rules:
"Changwon, a strong centre of the Korean arms industry, plans to decision part of the production to Poznań. It's a very large and crucial investment. I am glad that Poznań companies, Military Motorization Plants and H. CEGIELSKI-ZNAŃ S.A. will benefit from it," wrote president Poznań on social media.
City known for the developed defence industry
The city of Changwon deserves to pay attention to it due to the fact that that is where their office have the momentum of the largest defence manufacture in South Korea : Hyundai Rotem and Hanwha Defense.
Tanks, cannons, rocket launchers...
Money.pl portal reported in June:
"In fresh years, Poland has ordered from South Korea a number of different types of combat equipment – K2 Black Panther tanks, self-propelled cannonhaubice K9, K239 Chunmoo rocket launchers, and FA-50 light aircraft. The Polish website plans to get a full of 1000 K2 tanks and their Polishized version of K2PL".
South Korea is an ally of the United States
As you can see, these purchases in Korea are to be large-scale and include the various weapons that Koreans produce. South Korea is an ally of the United States, and Washington takes note of what is happening on the Korean Peninsula in connection with the aggressive rhetoric of North Korea, a totalitarian state that has late tightened its cooperation with Putinian Russia.
Haubic production in Poland from 2026
The military-polskie.pl website informs that deliveries of 624 haubic K9PL will take place in 2024, while as part of this cooperation, the launch of the production of haubic in Poland as planned should take place in 2026.
The German press’s surprise
At the end of September 2022, the German press was amazed at the improvement of Polish-Korean relations in the context of military cooperation.
"Poland, which has donated a large part of its weapons systems to the Ukrainian army, will defend itself like no another NATO country. The fact that the government in Warsaw chose South Korea as a long-term partner amazed many abroad observers. For the country in the Far East itself is not a NATO member, and thus the interoperability of South Korean weapons systems with NATO systems is not ensured," stated the writer “Die Welt” (quoting his account with translation from Onet).
President of the Law and Justice Office in South Korea
Notice that already in 2015, PiS president Jarosław Kaczyński compared Poland to South Korea and "recognised this Asian country as a model".
“Poland can besides become an economical and military power like South Korea,” said the leader of the United Right already in November 2010.
As you can see, the current rulers in Poland believe that South Korea is simply a valuable and reliable partner that can inspire our country.
