The construction of the monumental figure of Our woman of Mercy is coming to an end in Konotopia, Kujawy. The monument is to measurement almost 56 metres and surpass both the celebrated Christ King of Świebodzin and the figure of the Savior of Rio de Janeiro. The creators argue that the highest Marian monument in the planet is being created.

Colossus in the Kuyavian countryside

In a tiny Konotopia in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, close Toruń, since 2025 there has been a construction which attracts the attention of all Poland. A monumental figure of Our woman of Mercy is created here, and its size impresses. The full structure is expected to scope 55.6 metres: the figure itself is about 40.6 metres, and the next twelve metres is the crown, in which the viewing terrace is planned.

The scaffolding is removed from the monument, which means the work is coming to an end. For residents of a tiny village it is an unprecedented event, which will permanently put their village in a map of Polish shrines and pilgrimage sites.

Higher than Świebodzin and Rio

The natural mention point is the figure of Christ the King of Świebodzin, a symbol of Polish monumental piety for years. The Czerbodziński monument itself and the crown number about 36 metres, including the mound on which it stands, reaches about 52,5 metres. The Konotop figure is to surpass it, and with it, as the creators emphasize, besides the celebrated Christ the Savior of Rio de Janeiro.

However, comparisons request to be approached with caution, as different objects measured according to different rules, erstwhile the figure itself, erstwhile the full with the base. Construction initiators themselves convince that the highest Marian monument in the planet is being built in Konotopia. Regardless of how the statistic end, the scale of the task is undeniable.

A Sign of religion That Sees From a Far Away

Poland has a rich tradition of erecting large sacral figures, and Świebodzin from 2010 was its loudest example. The hemp continues this tradition and at the same time moves its border. In a country that is increasingly spoken of in terms of laicization and disbelief, the monumental Marian monument raised by the efforts of the local community is simply a evidence that folk piety can inactive accomplish works of large format.

The very choice of Our woman of Mercy is not accidental. The cult of God's mercy has a peculiar place in Polish religion, and its echoes are recognized worldwide. A monumental figure in Konotopia puts this spirituality in the landscape, making it a sign lasting and visible to anyone who approaches the village. For centuries, specified monuments have played a dual role: they were an act of religion of the founders and a signpost for subsequent generations.

The figure of Our woman of Mercy is to be seen from afar and to attract believers and pilgrims. The lookout terrace in the crown will let you to look from its tallness to the Kuyavian landscape. For some, it will be a evidence and a tourist attraction, a clear spiritual sign for others, a reminder of the place where religion and Marian cult occupy in Polish identity. 1 thing is certain: over the Kuyaws there is simply a monument that cannot be overlooked.
