Norway wipes its eyes with amazement. All due to the fact that of... beer. Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, the star of Manchester City, decided to engage in advertising with American beer giant Budweiser.
The athlete recorded, among others, a spot, which immediately sparked a storm, because... it cannot be aired in Norway due to a severe ban on the promotion of alcohol.
Haaland argues that it identifies itself with the title of the action (Let it pour), but not all buy this narrative. 1 Norwegian organization does not leave the player a dry thread on the decision. Its representatives say explicitly: the youth idol promoting alcohol is simply a bad signal, and the usage of national symbols only exacerbates the problem and may propose a link with the federation.
Critics besides remind us that large tournaments do not require the advertising of alcohol — the Norwegians erstwhile promoted even ice cream.
