On the occasion of the 21st anniversary of John Paul II's death, we print a fragment of Jolanta Sosnowska's book entitled "The top of the home of Poles", illustrated by photographs of Adam Bujak.
The passage shows the last days of the life of Pope Pole, his prayer, suffering and complete devotion to God, as a moving evidence to his humility and unbreakable faith.
1 April was the last day that John Paul II concelebrated in his flat Mass. Pope Pole left for the Father's House, leaving the Church and the planet an extraordinary legacy of faith, hope and love. On the anniversary of his death, the faithful around the planet are reminiscent of the last moments of the Holy Father's life, which have become a thrilling witness of union with Christ in suffering.
Memoirs from that time are presented in his latest book “The top of Poles” (White Raven), illustrated by photographs of Adam Bujak, Jolanta Sosnowska – author and editor of many books devoted to the life and pontificate of John Paul II, including the monumental four-volume biography of “Hetman of Christ”.

"In fresh days the Pope has had very low blood pressure, very advanced fever and large breathing difficulties. But he remained full conscious, conscious, and with a clear mind. In a clear way, he joined the prayers that constantly raised his companions in peace. He tried to communicate by writing a flamingo on a card, but it was hard to decipher his handwriting.
