The WB Group, the largest private defence group in Poland, signed a cooperation agreement with ROMAERO – 1 of the leading Romanian companies in the aviation and arms manufacture – concerning industrial cooperation in the area of unmanned air systems for the Romanian Ministry of National Defence.

Representatives of the WB Group and ROMAERO signed the paper during BSDA (Black Sea Defence and Aerospace) in Bucharest, the largest defence fair in the Black Sea region. The cooperation is to concern the GLADIUS reconnaissance and impact system, introduced to the equipment of the Polish Armed Forces, which is the basis for the WB offer to Romanian armed forces.

Under the agreement, the WB Group and the ROMAERO will cooperate in the assembly and production of systems of ammunition circulating WARMATE in Romania. The Partnership envisages adapting RomaERO plants to large-scale production for the Romanian armed forces, as well as creating additional capacity for European markets.

– Romania is simply a strategical marketplace for the WB Group and a country with which we want to build long-term industrial cooperation, not only to supply equipment. Cooperation with ROMAERO is another step in this direction," said Piotr Wojciechowski, president of the WB Group.

The agreement is intended to support Romanian purchasing programmes financed in full or in part by the SAFE Action for Europe of the European Union, of which Romania is 1 of the largest beneficiaries. Poland has already announced respective programmes implemented under SAFE with the participation of WB Group's exploratory and impact systems.

– Cooperation puts Romanian industrial and engineering competences at the centre, in the context of the solutions we want to provide, while ensuring that the value generated by programmes financed by SAFE remains in the Romanian industrial ecosystem. Signing an agreement at the BSDA fair, shortly after the creation of WB ROMANIA, is another phase of long-term improvement of our presence in this country," added Piotr Wojciechowski.

The agreement builds on an earlier announcement on the creation of WBROMANIA – a WB Group entity in the Romanian marketplace – and reflects a broader strategy based on industrial cooperation, technology transfer and local competence development.

ROMAERO brings more than seventy years of experience in aviation production in Bucharest, as well as competence in aviation structures, service and service of aircraft, military and civil. This makes the natural company an industrial partner for the assembly and production of advanced unmanned systems in Romania.

GLADIUS is simply a combination of round-the-clock ammunition from the WARMATE household – providing impact capabilities over 100 kilometres away, with unmanned WB Group reconnaissance platforms, operating based on the TOPAZ combat management system. This creates a single, network-centric environment that cooperates with barrel, rocket and rocket artillery, importantly expanding the flexibility and situational awareness of artillery troops.
