On 12 May, the French authorities rejected the request of the communicator's founder Telegram Paweł Durow to travel to the United States to "negotiate with investment funds" - informed the European edition of the Politico paper on 12 May, citing the Paris prosecutor's office.
"French authorities have rejected the proposal of the founder of Telegram Paweł Durow to travel to the United States to "talk to investment funds". The Paris Attorney's Office told Politico that it had taken a decision on 12 May “on the basis that specified a journey does not seem essential or justified”, she reported on Tuesday.
Durow said last Sunday that “he was asked to silence the Conservatives in Romania before the presidential election.” He said the request came from the "Western European Government". He later explained that the request came from the head of French intelligence by Nicolas Lerner. Durow added that he “categorically refused”.
Durow was detained at Le Bourget Airport on August 24, 2024. Stopping a businessman has sparked widespread public criticism in many countries. Durow is suspected of committing 10 crimes and misdemeanors in France and could endanger him to 10 years in prison. On the evening of 28 August, he was released on bail of EUR 5 million. He was banned from leaving France.
In early December, Durow was first interviewed by an investigative judge. The proceeding lasted about 10 hours.
Prior to that, Durowa's lawyer David-Olivier Kaminski said that the investigation of the case against the founder of the Telegram in France is ongoing, but things are getting better and better. He refused to comment on the whereabouts of an entrepreneur who left France for Dubai on March 15. The Paris prosecutors had previously told RIA Novosti that judicial control of him had been suspended until April 7.
