A gathering of Witkoff and Putin began in St. Petersburg

In St. Petersburg, Vladimir Putin’s gathering with U.S. president peculiar envoy Steve Witkoff began, reported the Kremlin press service.

As stressed by the Russian leader's press secretary, Dmitry Pieskov, during the talks, aspects of the resolution of the conflict in Ukraine and possible gathering of state leaders will be discussed. Moscow will besides convey to Washington its concerns and elements of Russia's position. Talks don't have a deadline.

At the same time, the gathering is not related to the result of Russian-American consultations in Istanbul. The Kremlin spokesperson besides appealed not to anticipate the landmark results of Witkoff's visit to St. Petersburg.

This morning, peculiar Envoy Donald Trump landed at Pulakowo Airport. In the afternoon, he held a gathering with RDIF chief Kirill Dmitriev.

This is Witkoff's 3rd visit to Russia. Last time he was in Moscow on 13 March – then a peculiar envoy met high-ranking representatives of Russia, and in the evening he was accepted by Putin. According to Psakkov, Witkoff provided Russian side with additional information on Ukraine, and the Russian president via it provided information and additional signals to his American counterpart.

In early February, Whitkoff flew to Russia to negociate the exchange of American Mark Vogel, who was convicted of smuggling and possession of drugs, and then participated in high-level talks between the US and Russia in Riyadh.
