Robert M. Smoktunovich, liberal-conservative politician, erstwhile lawyer and erstwhile senator.

He had a rich political history. In the 1980s, he was an activist of the Independent Student Association (NZS) at the University of Warsaw. He acted in the young-end movement of Alexander Hall – the Youth Movement of Poland. In 1987, he co-founded the Real Policy Movement (SPR), on the basis of which he was established unambiguously associated with Janusz Korwin Mikke the Real Policy Union (UPR). During the 2000 presidential election, he was an advisor to Andrzej Olechowski. He invented and organized the Citizens' Association for the Republic. He joined the Civic Platform (PO), was her legal expert and associate of the National Council. 2001 and 2005 received the mandate of Senator V of the word of office in the Podwarszawski district. In the first case from the 2001 legislature Block, in the second from the Civic Platform. In September 2007, he resigned his PO membership. It was a large surprise that he decided to run as a partyless from the List of Left and Democrats (LiD). In 2009 he joined the Democratic organization (SD).

In 1986 he graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw. He made his bar application in Warsaw, after which in 1991 he took up practice in the profession of lawyer. He took over the management of the law firm R. Smoktunowicz & L. Falandysz. In 1995, he became legal advisor to the Italian embassy in Poland. He was an expert at the National Broadcasting Council. He was called the star of Polish barrister. The turmoil and household troubles caused him to be removed from the list of lawyers in 2023. His first wife was writer Hanna Lis, and his second was Ragankiewicz.

When the manager of the judaic Historical Institute (ŻIH) Paweł Spiewak (1951-2023) in 2007 in an interview with Angola said "There is no uncertainty that Dmowski was an ideological bully and created all the worst in Polish tradition. Therefore, I am opposed to naming Dmowski even the smallest square where dogs from all over the area would piss," Smoktunowicz defended the leader of the National Democracy. In a radio broadcast, he harshly criticized the vocalist accusing him of deficiency of historical objectivity and confusion. This has earned my respect. In another things, I inactive disagreed with Smoktunovich. In fresh years, he has been on the side of normality and tradition.

Former MP Artur Zawisz said to Robert Smoktunowicz on his social media: “Goodbye, Robert, an example of the independency of thought and independency of action; Robert, who in your political life went from conservatism to liberalism and from liberalism to conservatism; Robert, the handsomest Polish politician and most likely not the happiest.
Good-bye, fellow of the constituency in Warsaw. You've been a senator there since 2001 and I've been an MP. In 2007, we fulfilled our parliamentary mandates and this year You're from the Civic Platform, and I'm from Law and Justice. Over the past six years we have met many times in Warsaw and Warsaw, and always good and respectful.

In fresh years, you have become a public defender of political common sense and an opponent of aggressive progressiveism. It was instructive when, in applicable matters, you called your erstwhile organization colleagues to order and, in essential matters, you defended the law of nature, although you did not want to call it God’s law.

In addition to politics, you were a successful lawyer working in the country and abroad (I was told about your Italian successes), and above all, a charming bon vivant and an amateur of the female sex. What you did was screw up, and now you're gonna become your own lawyer in court. If I were the eventual Judge, I'd forgive you. Arrivederci!”
