Many charges to the KRRiT
The National Broadcasting Council must, by the end of May, study to Parliament and the president on its activities for the past year. The parliamentary majority does not hide in the media that the rejection of the study for 2023 by both chambers is simply a likely scenario, given the multitude of allegations, including the deficiency of compliance with the work to uphold media freedom.
The president does not want the word of office of KRRiT to expire
If this study is rejected by the Sejm and the Senate, the word of office of all members of the National Council will automatically expire within 14 days from the date of the last resolution. However, the president may come to the rescue of the members of the KRRiT. The word of office will not expire unless confirmed by president Andrzej Duda. According to Patryk Michalski of Virtual Poland, the president's colleagues see no basis for shortening the Council's word of office.
How was the old days?
When the Sejm and the legislature rejected the KRRiT study for 2010 in 2011, then president Bronisław Komorowski opposed. ‘Bronisław Komorowski adopted the 2010 National Broadcasting Council report. This means that the Council is inactive in its current composition. According to the President, further destabilisation in public media would be dangerous beforeupcoming elections“ It was then given in a communication. Will KRRiT be defending against the barricade this time, president Duda? Time will tell.
