angora24.pl 1 year ago

Janusz Zemanek did not win the election, receiving only 39.76% of the vote, which is little than half of all validly cast votes. He was supported by 2,043 people, while 3,459 people voted against him. The politician would gotta get over 50% of support to re-take the position of mayor. This is very rare.

Citizens have rebelled

At an open gathering on the study, which took place just before Easter, residents announced that they would vote against Janusz Zemanek. The municipal authorities presented a spatial planning task for the municipality of Wilkowice. 1 of the proposals was to allocate more than 12 hectares of agricultural land in Bystrą to construction sites. This decision was greatly displeased by many residents, causing considerable social outrage. There were quite a few voices saying they didn't want the block here.

Despite a partial withdrawal from the plans by the mayor and the promise that there would be no construction in the disputed area, the residents responded against him. And it happened. The politician lacked more than 10% of the vote to stay in his position.

I believe my opponents, better than I, have reached a large part of the population with hatred and lies. – commented on the situation of Zemanek.

Everything remains in the hands of the Municipal Council

Further developments will depend on the decision of the fresh Municipal Council, in which the majority are councillors from the electoral committee Janusz Zemanek. The Council is due to meet in a fresh word which will begin at the beginning of May. It will be then that the decision will be made to choice the mayor and further steps on the spatial planning of the municipality of Wilkowice.

In Wilkowice Janusz Zemanek had no competitors. But due to the situation with the spatial planning, the voters told him NOT (60% against).
