Polish Gaz-System and Gas TSO of Ukraine (GTSOU), Ukrainian transmission strategy operator agreed a method solution expanding temporarily offered continuous capacity for the starting point of Ukraine (GCP GAZ-SYSTEM/UA TSO).
In view of the request to safe gas supply during the filling period of gas retention reported by the Ukrainian transmission strategy operator and the request to increase supply in this direction due to insufficient supply paths and scarce home gas stocks in Ukraine, the Gaz-System has taken additional measures to find a solution to improve the transmission situation on this connection.
Gas-System analysed the anticipation of a temporary solution
In view of Ukraine's peculiarly hard situation regarding the termination of gas transit by the Ukrainian transmission strategy since January 2025 and the current gas marketplace situation in Ukraine, the Gas-System has analysed the anticipation of a temporary solution to let (until the nonsubjective of upgrading the measurement station in Hermanowice is implemented) to increase transmission capacity towards Ukraine.
Therefore, Gaz-System decided to increase the offer of monthly products in auctions scheduled for 16 June this year and temporary offer additional continuous capacity of up to 5,424,000 kWh in regular and intraday products from 1 July to 31 July this year. Non-contracted transmission capacity under previously offered products will be made available at GCP GAZ-SYSTEM/UA according to current transmission capacity. Gas-System regularly conducts marketplace procedures
However, the solution presently implemented is temporary and the current method and commercial conditions of the operation of the national transmission network let Ukraine to assist in ensuring continuous supply of natural gas. The improvement of export opportunities guaranteeing long-term stableness of supply towards Ukraine will require additional investment in transmission infrastructure.
In order to measure the marketplace situation, the Gas-System regularly conducts marketplace procedures that let real and sustainable request for gas transmission between neighbouring countries to be established.
