What to do during the war? "We want everyone to read it, realize and remember"

Work on a safety guide containing information on how to behave during the war and natural disasters is coming to an end - said the head of the MSWIA Tomasz Siemoniak on Thursday. He stated that the electronic version would first be prepared; the paper version is expected for autumn.


The head of the Ministry of abroad Affairs, asked about the advancement of work on creating a guide said that "the work is coming to an end".

"We drew lessons from the experiences of another countries, especially Sweden, where specified a guide was issued last year. He must be useful, understandable, must mention to situations which anyone can meet, not only war but besides natural disasters." - said Siemoniak.

He added that real experiences are taken into account erstwhile creating a guide. "This is not a theory, it is drawing conclusions from different situations, besides a situation of tragic war in Ukraine. Any second now, the first version will be ready. We want everyone to read it, realize it and remember it" - he stressed.

When asked about the strategy of modernization and construction of shelters, he recalled that a fresh civilian protection law was implemented "to begin repairing and building shelters".

"We have issued a regulation that says what this shelter should look like, we are making inventory. There's a lot to do.. Of course, the manual will talk about what to do, while the task of building shelters is on the side of the state, on the side of local governments, on the side of various institutions. We are trying to mobilise this large potential" - he said.

"Safety Guide"

Since the beginning of the year the Ministry of Home Affairs, Administration and National Defence, as well as the Government safety Centre have been working on the creation of the so-called. a safety guide. The brochure will contain, among others, the book. information on how to last in crisis conditions for 72 hours. The guide is due to scope all citizens by the end of the year.

The Ministry of abroad Affairs notes that in a crisis situation the state will not replace the actions of the citizen himself.

"Let us be prepared within our capabilities for at least 3 days of endurance without the aid of state structures. Let's have water supply, the essential drugs, hygiene and sanitation, a supply of food, lighting that will work without electricity, charged power banks. Let's have it, too. transistor radio, due to the fact that we forgot that this could sometimes be the only average to receive messages" - he emphasized in March in an interview with PAP deputy chief of the Ministry of abroad Affairs Wiesław Leśniakiewicz.
