Background to early elections

The pre-term elections in Zabrze became essential after the May referendum of president Agnieszka Rupniewska. Rupniewska ruled the city only a year - in 2024 she won local government elections, defeating Małgorzata Manka-Szulik in the second round.

Mańka-Szulik led Zabrze for 18 years, since 2006. In the first circular of the election in 2024 she overtook Żbikowski by only 154 votes. On May 12 of this year, Rupniewska was cancelled in a binding referendum, in which over three-fifths of the number of voters from the second circular of the 2024 elections voted.
