We won the conflict with the patodeveloper, Zdanowska and the Hermit. The fight continues

I have good news for the people of Łódź. Provincial Administrative Court 7 JuneOn 2023, he issued a judgement detrimental to the developer, president of Łódź Hanna Zdanowska and Vice president Adam Pustelnik*. conviction in the case of a patodevelopper planned to replace the demolished school on Harcerska Street.

I'll remind you. The president of Łódź, without the approval of residents of the Lower East Settlement, but with the approval of the councillors, liquidated the school (Public Secondary School No. 10) at Harcerska Street. Then, in 2019, without talking to and consulting residents, the City Council gave the green light to the Łódź City Office for the sale of the school together with the gymnasium, underground shelter, playground and old trees. The site was bought by a developer from Skierniewice for over PLN 7 million without approval from the residents. comic money considering the priceless architectural value, spirit and climate of the place where the school stood. Not to mention the needs of children, parents, and residents related to the functioning of the school.

I know all about it due to the fact that I live on Bracka Street, a stone's throw from school on Harcerska Street. We learned about the “successful transaction” between the patoself-government and the patodeveloper by accident with our neighbors in July 2021.

When the locals realized what power was doing behind their backs, protests broke out. Thousands of petition signatures, hundreds of pages of writings and appeals to the office, dozens of pickets and media meetings. Surprisingly, in the beginning, the Road and Transport Administration (ZDiT) was on the side of the residents, who stated that "there is no anticipation of rebuilding the streets of Harcerska and Libelt in specified a way as to let the adoption of increased traffic, as well as corresponding to today's request for parking and capacity". Unfortunately, under mysterious circumstances (pressures?) officials withdrew cancer from their position, which is not in the hands of business power (developer) and political power.

Empty words of the Hermit

At the request of the residents, meetings with Vice president Adam the Hermit. It was filled with empty words from power. 1 slide from the presentation, on which the vice president showed the construction of the “inferential” by the developer and “imposed” by the Łódź City Office, was peculiarly memorable. President Hermit “forgotten” to inform residents that the building area had not changed. The building requested by the developer is the same as the area allowed by the vice president. In addition, on the website of UMŁ there was a paper “Report from the gathering of the First Vice president of the City of Łódź with residents on the planned investment on Harcerska Street on 29 September 2021”. The study reads: "The manager of the Department of strategy and improvement explained that the developer requested intensive housing of the property (eight 11-story buildings), but the City only approved 3 or four-story buildings".

So we have 1 11-storey building on the slide that the developer requested, and there are 8 in the report. What's going on here?

I don't know. It is later hard to blame residents who claim that Vice president Hermit is lying, ignoring the fact and manipulating facts.

Finally, under dramatic circumstances, the school was demolished. I watched them personally for days. Neighbors who went to this school, whose children went to this school erstwhile they saw a digger tearing apart pieces of the school, crying. And they commented, "It's terrible what they've done here," "Barbarity," "It's a bitch," "He who has money, he rules," "Everybody's happy. City takes money, developer takes money.”

The demolition of the school is simply a symbol of the 4th Republic of Poland. So commented the demolition of the school on the Boy Scout social activist Jan Spiewak while recording the program "Case for reporter" by Elżbieta Jaworowicz.

The Patodeweloper destroys the monument

"Today's conviction is simply a immense success of 2 years of civilian struggle. The decision of the Łódź City Council to sale the school building was a mistake, and the site was sold without the Local Spatial Planning Plan" - commented the resident of Małgorzata Czubak.

It is worth reminding at this point that the Łódź Provincial Monument Conservationist Aleksander Stępień emphasizes that "The Scouting Street in Łódź is located in the area of the historical urban layout of the Lower East Settlement included in the Provincial registry of Monuments".

The conservator negatively gave an opinion on the construction task to rebuild the Boycerska Street. In a letter to the inhabitants of the Conservator, he stressed that he "supports all actions aimed at saving the monument from losing its value".

Those who fool

"The housing marketplace is the foundation of not only the economy, but besides all city. It is private investors and developers who build cities and make urban tissue fill. The influx of construction investments has always been a flywheel of the economy" said Adam Pustelnik at a gathering organized by the Polish Association of Developer Companies (PZFD) on 10 May 2023 in Łódź. Let me remind you that the PZFD is owned by JHM Development, which demolished the school on Scouting.

I disagree with Vice president Hermit. The foundation for all city's improvement is its residents, not developers.

When I see how Vice president Hermit smiles at me from photos published in the media (anti)social, where developers announce their aid to childrenI remember the kids who lost school on Scout Street. Children who are forced to go to schools located far further than the demolished school on Scouts as a consequence of the patodeveloper investments. Children who will be exposed to car smog and sound as hundreds of fresh cars enter and leave fresh blocks built at the site of the demolished school.

On June 7, 2023, we won the battle. The conviction of the Provincial Administrative Court shows that force makes sense. Bottom-up citizen pressure. At this point, I thank all residents who have been helping with action, word or thought for 2 years.

We won the conflict and... the fight is on.

It is up to us to be active in citizens whether we will let hundreds of fresh cars into the Lower East Settlement or tell halt this madness. Whether power will proceed to treat us as objects or as entities. Whether the developer's greed wins, or our concern for the common good of our estate.
