In Lviv, a school with a military-patriotic profile called "Banderowiec" was launched. The program of the facility includes both theoretical classes and field training, and is addressed to young people aged 15 to 25.

The case was referred to by Ukrainian historian Marta Hawryszko, known for her critical attitude towards the cult of Stepan Bandera. On Saturday, she wrote on platform X that the establishment of specified an institution in her hometown raises serious concerns.

“In my family, Lviv officially opened a military-patriotic school called “Banderowiec”. According to its authors, it is to “education” young people aged 15-25. In fact, it resembles a center of indoctrination, built around the cult of sacrifice and death," she wrote.

The historian besides pointed out – in her opinion – the paradox associated with the character Stepan Bandera. As she stressed, the legend of the leader of Ukrainian nationalists was built on the story of combat and martyrdom, although his own life looked different.

“The irony is that Bandera himself never met the romanticist perfect of a nationalist militant. He spent much of his life in comparatively comfortable conditions in Germany – travelling to the mountains, posing for pictures and eliminating political rivals," she said.

According to Hawryszko, past has a “black sense of humor” in this case. As she recalled, Bandera did not die in armed combat.

“The man who became a symbol of martyrdom in conflict did not fall on the battlefield. His communicative ended in Munich, where he was murdered by a russian intelligence agent. It was this assassination that made the political emigrant a convenient symbol of martyrdom for any of the environment," she said.

As the Kresy.pl portal noted, the recently established school offers a program combining elements of ideological education with military preparation, including field classes.

Paweł Usiądek, Vice-President of the National Movement, besides referred to the case. He pointed out the symbolic meaning of the task name.

"The school's name straight refers to Stepan Bandera and the environment of Ukrainian Nationalist Organizations. The OUN-B faction, as well as the Ukrainian Povs dancing Army, were liable for the genocide of Poles in Volyn and east Małopolska during planet War II," he stressed.

As he added, the initiative referring to the flag symbolism is peculiarly controversial in Poland.

"In Polish historical memory, the character of Bandera is primarily connected with the ideology of Ukrainian nationalism and with work for 1 of the biggest crimes committed on civilians in the past of the region," he noted.

He besides estimated that the failure of the authorities in Poland to respond to specified initiatives was worrying.

"Bandera is present in Ukrainian schools, books, culture and public space. Meanwhile, the Polish authorities do not respond to these phenomena. As a result, a generation raised in the ideology of flagism is increasing at our border," said the politician.

The Volyn massacre was a series of mass murders carried out by Ukrainian nationalists – primarily the troops of the Ukrainian Insurgency Army – on the Polish population inhabiting the pre-war territory of the Volynian Voivodeship of the Second Republic. These crimes occurred during the German business of these lands, frequently with the engagement of part of the local Ukrainian population.

Violence culminated in the summertime of 1943. The exact number of victims is unknown – historians estimation that about 50 to 120 1000 Poles were murdered.

Similar crimes were besides carried out in the first half of 1944 in neighbouring provinces of Lviv, Tarnopolskie and Stanislawów, referred to as east Galicia or east Malopolska.

Comment: Here, on the pages of the portal w Prawo.pl, we have repeatedly written about the creeping improvement of the ideology of Ukrainian chauvinism, to which the Kiev power is patronized. The editor-in-chief of this portal, Jacek Międlar, devoted quite a few work to this topic. He besides wrote the second volume of the book “Neighbours. Last Witnesses of Ukrainian genocide in Poles”, to which I powerfully urge you to buy and read.
