On Thursday 28 December in the Polish capital there were celebrations related to the celebration of the National Day of the Winning Wielkopolska Uprising, established 2 years ago. The anniversary of the outbreak of the winning event was celebrated again in Warsaw. The city of Poznań was represented by deputy president Jędrzej Solarski.

The celebrations began with a Holy Mass in the intention of the Wielkopolska Insurgents in the Warsaw Archikatedra at Świętejńska Street, from where the corodive went to Józef Piłsudski Square. The main celebrations were held at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Both Warsaw streets and the Tomb itself this year were decorated with insurgent flags and emblems associated with the period of Wielkopolska's insurrection.

– We come to Warsaw all year to draw attention not only to the fact that the Wielkopolska Uprising was victorious, but besides to how much good it brought about the rebirth of the homeland," said Marshal Marek Wozniak during the ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. “This victorious uprising would not have been possible if it were not for the immense social commitment of the Greaterpolans, the people of all states and professions who stood side by side with the insurgents, to effort to make certain that they did not deficiency anything in the fight – uniforms, meals, dressing materials, horses, that is, everything the modern army needs to face a trained and well-equipped enemy”, said Marek Wozniaak.

Krzysztof Bosak, Deputy talker of the Sejm, read the letter from Szymon Holownia, Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland. “Examples of the triumph of heroism, and at the same time liable and far-sighted reasoning about Poland for all of us should be a reason to be proud, and at the same time a commitment to cultivate the memory of past generations”, the Marshal of the Sejm wrote in his letter.

After the talks, the convention listened to the solemn Appeal of Memory. The Warsaw celebrations ended with the laying of bundles at the monument of the Wielkopolska and Silesian Insurgents at Military Powązki.

The authorities of the capital of Wielkopolska represented Jędrzej Solarski, deputy president of Poznań in Warsaw.
