This year's thirteenth “National Reading” final, held on 7 September in the Saski Garden in Warsaw, was the last with the participation of president Andrzej Duda and his wife Agata. The event, for the first time in its history, showed the smallness of people managing public media.

Landscape full of charm: inactive alive green willows and lawns, pond, fountain, blue sky, and on its background a white building of a collection, inspired by the Italian temple of Westa; in the foreground a scene with a immense telebim. This place is well known to national readers, who have been coming here for over a decade to enjoy the view and beauty of the words coming from the mouth of actors interpreting Polish writing works.

Running an outdoor gathering with literature fell ed. Katarzyna Sanocka with TVP and it was a very good choice, although there were voices that the perfect solution would be to have a peculiarly popular writer alongside a chic and sympathetic writer red Marcin Kusy from Polish Radio.

The presenter welcomed the audience; moments after 11 p.m. the presidential couple arrived and shared their reflections on the drama Juliusz Słowacki p. “Kordian” originating in 1833, i.e. from the period erstwhile Poland was under partitions.

– It is an archipolski track, steeped in the thought of free Poland and a spirit of patriotism. This is simply a moving communicative about Polish fate," Agata Duda said. Slovak was accompanied by a spirit of freedom and national independence. This is the kind of Poland he dreamed of and foretold," she added.

The president mentioned Warsaw insurgents, for whom the art of Slovak, like another romanticist works, was compulsory reading and had a crucial influence on their character and attitude during the occupation. – “Kordian” is simply a drama of independence. Slovak calls on Poles to actively fight for freedom. This is no longer Messianic. He calls for an active fight, not so much a sacrifice, to fight to the end, to win, to sacrifice everything to rebuild the Republic of Poland," said Duda, and immediately afterwards added, "Today, erstwhile we look beyond our borders specified a fight for freedom is going on, we can truly look at the problems that Slovak described in the "Kordian".

So I will sing and prosecute the end – the president's wife began reading the entrance to the play:

I'll revive the fire if it's in the spark.
Yes Egyptian in a letter from aloe
It wraps the dead heart;
He writes on a leaf the resurrection of words;

Then Andrzej Duda continued:

Though the heart will not live in this leaf,
But from corruption it will be forever,
It won't break... An hr will strike,
When the thought of a secret word guesses,
Then the answer will be in the heart — at the bottom

A circular of applause followed and the dynamic music of Paweł Stączek and Piotr Stączek performed by the artists, the actors appeared in front of the audience: Przemysław Wyszyński, Jędrzej Hycnar, Krzysztof Kwiatkowski, Lidia Sadowa, Jarosław Gajewski, Vanessa Aleksander, Szymon Kuśmider, Tomasz Borkowski, Wiesław Komasa, Marcin Przybylski and Andrzej Ferenc.

The explanation of the drama fell to the taste of the audience, who listened to the words arranged in the phase track almost 200 years ago.

Equally interesting was the surrounding environment; the Institute of National Memory did not neglect and as last year set up its extended stand. erstwhile historical competitions with valuable book awards, children arranged puzzles receiving candy and commemorative stamps.

The white shelter of the presidential law firm was a place where you could get postcards with a commemorative stamp, as well as another gifts prepared for the final event.

There was a picnic atmosphere around, blankets appeared on the lawns – which in the capital is the norm – and on them snacks and drinks.

After an hour, the presidential couple went to the palace at Krakowskie Przedmieście, stopping among autograph hunters and pictures with the head of state.

The spouses returned after another 60 minutes and summed up this year's action. “We heard wonderful interpretations that further strengthened the transmission of Slovak works, thanks to actors, actresses and musicians”, Agata Duda said. erstwhile she thanked the creators and organizers, she did not hesitate to mention that “National Reading” 2024 had a very modest media advertising; both radio and tv heads were not gracious to take over this beautiful initiative, which should be promoted above political divisions. The first woman reported that this year her accession to the “National Reading” reported 200 kindergartens and over 2,000 schools, as well as many agrarian housekeepers and elder clubs. “Kordian” was read in 60 countries, almost all continents.

– I consider “National Reading” to be 1 of the best cultural creative ideas and we have enjoyed continuing this initiative. We hope that another presidential couple will cultivate this action," the president said. – Through these 10 joint editions of “National Reading” there were about 40,000 different events. We had over 300 characters of reading, which were the subject of our national struggles with reading. We have read over 2 million words during these editions. This time has benefited not only us, who could admire large artists, but served to popularize reading," Duda emphasized.

In conclusion, the president thanked for the 10 editions of “National Reading” and announced that another reading, in 2025, would be poetic works by Jan Kochanowski.

Andrzej Duda's presidency evokes utmost emotions and assessments, but I don't think anyone will question the fact that Duda and his wife are doing a large occupation in promoting artistic and cultural events. The presence of the presidential couple during exhibitions, concerts, literary meetings invariably adds splendor and character. And for that Agata and Andrzej Dudom should be grateful.

CORDIAN
This is the summit... I'm afraid to look into the abyss of the dark world.
I'll look... Ah! Under the feet of the sky and over the head
Heaven... I am locked in a crystal ball;
If that ice needle came with me
Higher — up to the sky... I wouldn't feel like I'm swimming.
