Warsaw is seeking funds for modernization and expansion of the Spyowo complex, formerly owned by Russia, located in Mokotów, which remains abandoned. It was originally planned to allocate these apartments to refugees from Ukraine, but now this direction has changed.
The spy, named by the Warsawists, is simply a group of abandoned blocks from the 1970s at Sobieskiego 100 Street in Mokotów. For years they were utilized by Russian diplomats without formal contracts. Warsaw has long sought to take over this complex. It worked 2 years ago with the bailiff's support.
More than 100 apartments are located in the characteristic complex of buildings of varying height. Now there's a fresh thought to usage these abandoned spaces.
The Vice president of Warsaw, Tomasz Bratek, told PAP about the fresh thought for Spyowo. The city would like the inhabitants of this place to include police officers, local guards and teachers, i.e. representatives of the professions needed in the city.
Michał Wojtczuk in “Gazeta Wyborcza” mentioned any another plans earlier. Vice president Bratek was asked in November 2023 whether the city inactive intends to allocate part of its housing in Spying for refugees from Ukraine. On the another hand, the president of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski made specified a declaration in 2022.
– It's hard to tell who this building is for today. First an investment must be carried out, and this will take at least 2 years," said Tomasz Bratek.
It is now announced that it is planned to make Spying a joint venture between the central government and local authorities.
“The task that will service both the city and the province”, said Bratek.
Apartments for teachers, policemen, city guards in the erstwhile Spy
Officers are presently looking for the right approach and ways to get funding. Their aim is to get funds from the government programme on social construction.
– Therefore, these apartments that we will build will be for the needs of the services, but we will gotta have mixed tissue there, that is, both municipal dwellings and dwellings, which could service representatives of professions especially needed in Warsaw," said the vice president.
It has been declared that construction work, including the modernization and construction of a fresh building from Sobieski Street (after the demolition of the club-storage buildings), is planned to be carried out within 3 years.
Currently Warsaw does not have a programme to supply municipal housing for people working in key professions for the city. On the another hand, specified a program can be found in Wieliszewa close Warsaw, where the municipality presently accepts applications to rent recently built municipal housing in accordance with established precedence criteria, specified as housing in the municipality, having at least 1 kid and pursuing a profession specified as a doctor or teacher.
In her programme for Warsaw, Magdalena Biejat, a candidate for left-wing groups for the city president, proposed the introduction of service housing for teachers.
