On Saturday, the Minister of Justice Waldemar Żurek and the Attorney-General and General Counsel at the Office of the Minister of Justice Ewa Wrzosek met with residents of confederate Wielkopolska, including Ostrow Wlkp, Pleszewa and Kalisz. During the meeting, the residents expressed concern – in their opinion besides long – about the settlement of irregularities that occurred during the regulation of the Law and Justice and slow action towards erstwhile Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobra.
Minister Żurek assured that all steps would be taken to bring the erstwhile minister to Poland. He announced that a red note of Interpol and the European Arrest Warrant could be issued if necessary.
We will do everything we can to get him to Poland, to be placed by the Polish judiciary said the minister.
Property of Ziobry secured
The D.A. investigating fraud at the Justice Fund has ordered safety against Mr Zbigniew Ziobra. These measures include the imposition of a compulsory mortgage on his property and the seizure of funds collected in his bank account. The decision was made on 12 November.
The property safety is intended to guarantee the enforceability of future decisions of a property nature specified as a fine, the work to make good damage, forfeiture, reimbursement of benefits, by preventing suspected disposal, charge or concealment of assets – said Prosecutor Przemysław Nowak.
The Prosecutor's Office concluded that both conditions for the application of the property safety were met in this case. Firstly, the charges against Ziobra concern acts threatened by financial sanctions, and the value of the damage, as Prosecutor Nowak reminded, is at least PLN 143 million. Secondly, there is simply a legitimate concern that, without security, enforcement of a property judgement would be impossible or importantly impeded.
