The Unmanned Systems (SBS) forces of the Ukrainian Army attacked 54 Russian shadow fleet ships in the Black and Azov Seas in August," said SBS commander Major Robert “Madiar” Browdi on Thursday.
According to Browdi from the beginning of the operation, i.e. from 6 July 2026, SBS hit 260 Russian ships.
The shadow fleet is the definition of a network of mainly old oil tankers, utilized by Russia to circumvent global sanctions on oil and petroleum products exports. It presently has at least 600 units, but according to any estimates it could be up to 1,600 ships worldwide. These are mainly tiny and medium-sized tankers.
