In Sanoku a mural was unveiled in honor of NSZ soldiers

Last Saturday, at the initiative of the Sanok residents, a mural dedicated to the Cursed Soldiers was unveiled, who acted as part of the Independent Operational Battalion of the NSZ “ZUCH”.

The battalion operated from June 1945 until the end of 1946 (for about 470 days) in the powiats of Leski, Sanotsky and Birzozowski and was subject to organizational (although alternatively formally) under the Division III Commands of territory VII of NSZ (Kraków). The main site of the station of the branch was the village Niebieszczany. He was structured into 3 armed groups (companies) operating on the Krosno – Brzozów line – Sanok – Lesko in the vicinity of various localities: I (c. 45 members; Mrzgłod, Liszna, Dębna, Tyrawa Solna, Hłomcza, Łódź, Dobra), II (30-45; Sanoka region, all the way to Trześniów, Temeszów, Malinówka), III (c. 20; Rymanów, Korczyna, Krosno district). According to various sources, the size of the branch was almost 200 members in December 1945, 200 in 1946 around 100–120 in the 1st half of 1946. The commander was Captain Antoni Żubryd ps. “Zuch”, “Orłowski”.

The ceremony was celebrated by the speech of Janusz Niemec – the boy of the assassins Antoni and Janina Żubryd. The assembled celebrated the worship of the 3 soldiers of the “Zuch” branch who were murdered in public executions in May and June 1946.
