The visa scandal committee issued a final report. 11 notices to the D.A

On Tuesday after 11 a.m., the last gathering of the committee of enquiry on the alleged visa scandal took place. The Commission adopted the final work report, taking into account the amendments tabled by members representing the majority of the Sejm and part of the amendments by the associate of the Confederation. On the another hand, the amendment proposed by PiS was rejected.

The amendments were complementary. Among another things, they introduced a list of irregularities including data on universities with the highest percent of abroad students and modified the content of the complaint to the National Prosecutor's Office regarding the hold in the prosecution's activities in Lublin.

The committee of enquiry decided to send a announcement to the D.A. that 11 people suspected of committing the crime. Among others, there are people like erstwhile Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, erstwhile abroad Minister Zbigniew Rau, erstwhile Minister of Interior and Administration Mariusz Kamiński and erstwhile head of CBA Andrzej Stróżny.

What does the notification involve?

The first announcement concerns erstwhile abroad minister Zbigniew Raua, who according to the commission abused his powers by deciding to make the Centre for Visa Decisions and the Centre for Consular Information by creating their out-of-town papers, despite the deficiency of substantive, organisational and economical justification.

Additionally, the committee claims that Zbigniew Rau, erstwhile Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and erstwhile Minister of improvement Jadwiga Emilewicz abused their powers and neglected their duties, allowing for the announcement and immediate implementation of the Poland Business Harbour programme, which established a simplified visa procedure for companies, start-ups and IT professionals, despite the deficiency of any legal basis and description of the program in authoritative documents.

The Commission besides intends to send notifications to the D.A. against erstwhile Minister of Interior and Administration Mariusz Kamiński and erstwhile head of CBA Andrzej Stróżny. They are accused of failing to fulfil their duties after receiving in July 2022 information about criminal activity related to the legalization of abroad residence in the MFA.

In addition, notifications to the prosecutor's office will be directed against the erstwhile typical of the Prime Minister for GovTech Justyna Orłowski, erstwhile Director-General of abroad Service Maciej Karasiński and erstwhile Directors of the Consular Department of the Ministry of abroad Affairs: Marcin Jakubowski and Beata Brzywczy.
