KOLKATA— VietJet Thailand (VZ) has announced the launch of a new direct flight route between Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi Airport) and Kolkata, India. The new service is scheduled to begin on November 16, 2025.
The airline will operate four weekly flights to Kolkata. The new flights will expand the airline’s presence in the Indian market and establish a new air link between Thailand and eastern India.

VietJet Thailand Flights to Kolkata
VietJet Thailand will operate flights on every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. The airline will deploy its Airbus A320-200 aircraft variant.
The outbound flight, VZ770, is scheduled to depart from Bangkok at 9:55 PM local time and arrive in Kolkata at 11:20 PM IST.
The return service, VZ771, will leave Kolkata at 12:20 AM IST and land in Bangkok at 4:25 AM local time the same day.
Bookings for the new route opened on July 17. VietJet Thailand has introduced the 0 baht fare offer for the Bangkok–Kolkata route. The 0 baht fare refers solely to the base ticket price, excluding taxes, airport charges, and ancillary fees.
This type of fare is typically used to attract early bookings and boost awareness during a route launch. Passengers will not have to pay any base fare in the promotional price. However, passengers are still responsible for paying the mandatory surcharges at the time of booking.
The promotional fares will remain available through July 22, 2025. Travel under this phase will be valid between November 16, 2025, and March 28, 2026.

Expansion into Eastern India
Kolkata is the second Indian city and third city pair to be added to VietJet Thailand’s network. The airline already operates flights to Mumbai from Bangkok and announced flights from Phuket a while back.
VietJet Thailand’s another flight to India suggests a response to growing demand for nonstop flights between India and Thailand. This is especially true of eastern India, as Kolkata is India’s third largest market from Bangkok after Delhi and Mumbai.
The new route provides an alternative to existing options. Multiple airlines already serve the Bangkok–Kolkata route, such as Thai Airways and IndiGo. VietJet Thailand’s entry adds competition and increases flight options for travelers on this corridor.
The launch of VietJet Thailand’s Bangkok–Kolkata service adds a third carrier to this already active route. The entry of another low-cost operator will benefit passengers, especially during peak seasons and holiday periods when airfares tend to surge.
Kolkata is a key gateway in eastern India with strong demand for leisure travel to Southeast Asia. By tapping into this demand, VietJet strengthens its presence in a market that has seen steady growth in Thai-bound traffic. The timing of the new flights complements existing schedules from competing carriers and gives passengers more options to travel.

Looking Ahead
VietJet Thailand will launch the Bangkok–Kolkata service on November 16, 2025, operating four flights each week.
There has been no news yet regarding potential increases in frequency or additions of other Indian cities to the network.
The Kolkata–Bangkok route announcement came closely after VietJet Thailand’s recent announcement of direct Mumbai–Phuket flights.
This indicates an active phase of network expansion into India. The airline’s back-to-back announcements show there’s more to come. The airline might look into other Indian metro cities like Bengaluru, Delhi, and Ahmedabad to expand shortly.
VietJet might want to assess load factors and yield trends in the first few months of operation. Depending on market response, the airline could consider frequency adjustments to Kolkata.
