Funeral celebrations of Władysław Łabaj, the Cursed Soldier will be held in Sędziszów Małopolska on 25 September 2026.
Władysław Łabaj was born on 22 February 1925 in Sędziszów Małopolska. In 1943, after escaping Germany, he joined the Home Army. He served at the AK Magistrates “Sława”, then in the diversion of the AK Dębica Circuit under the command of Captain Józef Lutak “Dyzmy” and in the Partisan branch “Tink”. He participated in the action “Burza”. After the war, he didn't come out. He continued to operate in the WiN structures. In December 1951, after many years of hiding, he was detained by the CBW and UB operating group.
On 14 February 1952, the Communist Military territory Court sentenced him to death. He was murdered on 21 March 1952 in a prison in the castle in Rzeszów. The remains of the 'Runner' of the IPN were discovered on 24 March 2025 in the cemetery of Beatno in Rzeszów, and on 26 February 2026 his identity was confirmed.
