Pomeranian Furniture mill in Nowe, located in Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship, was a crucial employer, employing about a 1000 people. Unfortunately, after 2 major crises – the pseudo-COVID-19 pandemic and the pseudo-wars in Ukraine – the plant collapsed. The closure of the mill had a devastating effect on the local community, as fresh has only 5,500 inhabitants. Losing specified a large employer in a tiny town means immense economical and social problems for both workers and their families and local businesses, which relied on cooperation with the mill and its employees.

– Over a 1000 people utilized to work here. It was sad to see the bet go down. At the end of the day, we had about 200 people working for us. There were problems with pay on time. Young people are the worst now. They had to go after bread," says Mr. Marek, who worked for nearly 40 years at the Pomeranian Furniture mill in Nowa.

It is worth adding here that the Pomeranian Furniture mill in Nowy was part of the Klose group, which besides included the Furniture mill in Guest home and the Furniture mill in Czersk. – The employees would go on shifts at 5:00 or 6:00 in the morning and they would always come to me for shopping. Now my turnover has fallen by 30 percent – he admits.

The mayor notes that the fall of the bet is simply a painful experience for the town.

– In the social dimension, any failure of jobs is difficult. Only part of the staff could claim retirement. The recession in furniture caused the unemployed to find work in this sector. Many workers are looking for work outside fresh York, moving out permanently, says Onet Zbigniew Lorkowski.
