UP: The planet Bank lowered Ukraine's GDP growth forecast for 2026

The planet Bank confirmed the January forecast to slow the growth of Ukraine's GDP to 2% in 2025 (compared to 2.9% last year), and besides lowered the growth forecast to 2026 – from previously predicted 7% to 5.2%.

"It is expected that growth in Ukraine will slow down to 2% this year, before rising to 5.2% in 2026, as long as the war effort stops and reconstruction of the country begins," stated a study published on April 23.

According to the planet Bank, sustained warfare led to a decline in Ukrainian economical growth rate in 2024 to 2.9% (from 5.5% in 2023).

Among the main reasons for the slowdown, the Bank listed a decline in external demand, labour shortages and power outages due to Russian attacks.

Let us add that the global Monetary Fund in its latest forecasts besides predicts GDP growth Ukraine at 2% in 2025, but estimates somewhat lower growth in 2026 – at 4.5%.
