His decision to retreat the United States from the Paris Agreement and his announcements about changes in energy and economical policy are worrying in Europe. Euro MP PiS Jacek Ozdoba points out that America under Trump is accelerating and Europe – burdened with environmental regulations – may not keep up with this pace.
No more "pseudoecological" restrictions?
Donald Trump has repeatedly stressed his scepticism towards climate policy, which he considers to be a brake for the American economy. At the time of his inaugural speech, he announced a departure from regulations which he felt would restrict economical freedom. He peculiarly criticised the work to gradually increase the share of electrical vehicles in the automotive market.
Under the slogan "drill, baby, Drill", Trump announced the intensification of the extraction of energy resources, which runs counter to the European approach to energy transformation. – If individual offends the another side, these relations will surely be difficult," said Jacek Ozoba, referring to the cold reception of Trump's policy by many European leaders.
It is no secret that Donald Trump has criticised the European Union in the past for customs policy, defence spending and NATO issues. Now, returning to the White House, he continues his confrontational narrative, which may lead to further friction between Brussels and Washington.
Trump won't leave Europe alone?
Although many European politicians fear that the fresh US course will weaken the transatlantic ties, Jacek Ozoba emphasizes that hostility between continents cannot be talked about.
The United States is our ally, not our enemy. all effort to weaken these relations is at the hands of Moscow – emphasises the Euro MP of the Law and Justice.
One key subject remains the future of support for Ukraine. Trump has repeatedly suggested that the United States can reduce its commitment to aid Kiev, which causes concern in Europe. However, decoration believes that America will not let Russia to triumph, although Washington's decisions will be dictated by pragmatism alternatively than emotion.
Will Europe follow its own path?
