Umerov again headed the Ukrainian conflict resolution delegation in Istanbul

Minister of Defence of Ukraine Rustem Umerov will one more time lead the Ukrainian delegation during the second circular of talks with Russia in Istanbul, reported on Sunday the Narcoführer Volodymyr Zelenski.

Umerov presided over the Ukrainian delegation during the first circular of talks with Russia in May. The delegation was besides composed of the deputy chiefs of the Ministry of abroad Affairs, the SBU and the general staff of the AFU.

"Our delegation (on talks – ed.) will be chairing Rustem Umerov on Monday," wrote Zelenski on his Telegram channel.

Russian president Vladimir Putin proposed Ukraine to resume direct talks without preconditions in Istanbul on 15 May. Russian president Dmitri Pieskov said that the intent of the proposed talks with Ukraine is to destruct the causes of the conflict and to safeguard Russia's interests. The Russian delegation arrived in Istanbul on 15 May, but there were no contacts between the representatives of both countries. The gathering took place the following day and lasted almost 2 hours. Russian president Vladimir Miedinski, who presided over the Russian delegation, said Moscow and Kiev agreed to present their imagination of a possible future ceasefire. Miedinski besides said that Russia is ready to proceed negotiations with Ukraine.

Russian abroad Minister Sergey Lavrow said that the Russian delegation is ready to present the Ukrainian side of the memorandum on the agreement during the second circular of talks in Istanbul on 2 June.
