The Warsaw territory Attorney's Office examines the announcement concerning the exhibition, in which Ukrainian soldiers destroyed the wreckage of Russian military vehicles were presented. The exhibition, which was shown in respective Polish cities, caused controversy after it turned out that there were grenades and ammunition in the wrecks. The case has been reported by the Government strategical Reserve Agency (RARS), and the prosecution is investigating the anticipation of "bringing in a dangerous event" and "abuse of powers by a public officer".

“For our freedom and yours” exhibition – dangerous exhibits

The exhibition “For Our Freedom and Yours” presented 4 wrecks of Russian military vehicles that were destroyed by Ukrainian soldiers. The exhibits were transported and exhibited in the centres of large cities specified as Warsaw, Wrocław, Poznań, Gdańsk, as well as at the global Defence manufacture Salon in Kielce. However, as it turned out, there were dangerous explosives inside the wrecks, including grenades and ammunition that could detonate at any time.

The spokesperson for the Warsaw territory lawyer Piotr Antoni Skiba confirmed that the announcement had been received and the verification activities were ongoing. According to the information provided by the PAP, the notification concerns both the "prevention of a dangerous event" and the possible "abuse of powers by a public officer".

Dangerous discovery – grenades in wreckage

The case came to light after the fresh RARS management decided to take a closer look at the Russian wreckage. According to Onet portal, citing an unofficial source, the staff of the Agency heard from 1 of the co-organisers of the exhibition: “And did you see grenades rotation in 1 of the wrecks?” After this incident, RARS alerted the police who called the bomb squad.

Bomb squad confirmed that there are dangerous materials in the wreckage, including grenades and ammunition. They had no uncertainty that they contained elements that might have led to the explosion. They secured them and took them to safety. As the Onet portal emphasized, these materials could be in ruins for a long time, besides during transport between cities and during presentations at exhibitions.

Jan Jalovczyk of RARS confirmed that dangerous materials were found in the wreckage. He besides added that there were no papers proving that this equipment was checked at the border. "We asked the bomb squad not to detonate the safe materials so they could analyse them," he said.

The prosecution investigates the case – what next?

The prosecution shall examine the announcement for possible infringements. The focus is on both public safety issues and possible abuses of powers by those liable for the organisation and transport of the exhibition. The case is all the more serious as the grenade wrecks were transported through Poland and presented in public places, which could pose a real threat to human life and health.

The exhibition “For Our Freedom and Yours” was intended to commemorate the Ukrainians' fight against Russian aggression, but inadequate preservation of exhibits and the deficiency of control over dangerous materials put both the safety and credibility of organizers in question.

Summary

The case of Russian grenade wreckers, which drove around Poland, raises serious concerns about public safety and the work of the exhibition organizers. The D.A. is investigating a announcement filed by the Government strategical Reserve Agency, and bomb squads have secured dangerous materials. In the background, the question remains as to how the grenade wrecks were transported and displayed in public places without appropriate controls.
