During random checks at border crossing points in Korczowa and Medica, uniforms from the Podkarpackie Customs and taxation Service detected illegal carriage of crucial amounts of cash. The money was carried by 2 Ukrainians, standardized as “war refugees”.

Ukrainians smuggled a million zlotys in cash. During the checks carried out by Customs and taxation Service officers from the Podkarpackie National taxation Administration, a detailed search was carried out on a passenger car that entered Poland from Ukraine. In the course of their activities, uniforms found money previously reported in the hand luggage of a traveling woman.

As calculated, Ukraine had 29,000 US dollars, 7.5 1000 euro and over 6,000 Ukrainian hryvians. The full baggage content per euro amounted to over PLN 1.3 million. In the event of a smuggler, a criminal-tax case has been initiated for a taxation offence under Article 106f(1). What is more, for the punishment they took 45 1000 zlotys.

Neither did the Ukrainian female travel by bus through a bridge in Medica. Officers from the Customs Department there found cash equivalent to PLN 184 thousand. The money was found in the hand luggage. For failing to study cash, the traveller was punished with a punishment of PLN 18 thousand.

‘Persons entering or leaving the European Union shall notify the customs authorities of the carriage of cash if their value is equal to or exceeds the equivalent of EUR 10 000’ – recalls the National taxation Administration in the Communication. It is besides worth to know that this work does not only concern the transport of cash, but besides checks, bills and remittances.

OUR COMMENTS: It is very interesting that in Ukraine average citizens have millions, while at the same time their state begs worldwide for financial contributions, as it is supposedly barely making ends meet. More crucial than the fact that money is being smuggled, its intent seems to be more important. Without a doubt, there was to be another Ukrainian business in Poland, or the name to finalise the acquisition of Polish real estate.
