On Tuesday, May 27, 2025, a fatal accident occurred on the Provincial Road No. 580 in Strzeżewo (the territory of Warsaw western). The driver of Renault Laguna, a Ukrainian citizen, died on the place after attempting to overtake on a double continuous line. As a consequence of a frontal collision with Opel Corsa, 2 people were injured and transported to the hospital.
How did tragedy happen?
According to preliminary police findings, the head of Renault was driving from Sochaczew towards Warsaw. On the dangerous arch of the road, where there is simply a ban on overtaking, he attempted to bypass another vehicle. As a result, he entered the other lane, where he collided head-on with the incoming Oplem Cors. Despite trying to avoid a collision by turning towards the side, the collision happened anyway.
Rescue and handicaps
Emergency services, including 5 fire brigades (PSP Błonie, OS Strzeżew and OS Kampinos), medical rescue teams and rescue chopper Lifeguard 12. The Renault driver died at the scene and 2 people from Opel were seriously injured – 1 transported by helicopter, the another by ambulance.
The 580 provincial road was blocked for respective hours, and the police, along with the prosecutors, were conducting an investigation of the scene.
