Punishment up to 8 years of imprisonment threatens a 62-year-old Ukrainian citizen who tried to bribe police officers and the Border Guard. The man attempted to get the uniforms to step down from their duties by offering them money in exchange for withdrawing from the punishment for speeding.

Event in Horodle: 101 km/h in built-in area

Today, officers of the Hrubieszów region Police office and the Horodła Border defender conducted a joint patrol in a marked police car. In Horodło, lying on the border with Ukraine, uniforms spotted a Renault-brand vehicle that was moving at excessive speed. measurement showed that the car was driving at a velocity of 101 km/h in a built-up area where a limit of up to 50 km/h was in force.

Attempt for corruption during intervention

After the officers stopped the vehicle, it turned out that the driver was a 62-year-old Ukrainian citizen. The police informed the man of the offence and announced the imposition of a criminal mandate, which faced an effort to avoid responsibility. The man offered officers a 100 euro bribe in exchange for resigning from his duties.

The immediate consequence of the officers led to the notification of the Hrubieszów region Police Command Officer's attempted corruption. The 62-year-old was detained at the scene and then transported to police custody, where he is waiting for further proceedings.

Charge and threat of 8 years in prison

On the basis of the evidence collected, a man will be charged with giving the property benefit to a public officer in exchange for resigning from his duties. Pursuant to Polish law, for attempting to bribe a public person, the conviction of imprisonment of up to 8 years is punishable, as follows from Article 229 § 3 of the Criminal Code.
