The battles on Bachmut have been taking the attention of both sides for respective months and absorbing serious forces and reserves that cannot be utilized on another sections of the front. Ukrainian commanders believe that the persistent defence of Bachmut, even in a hard tactical situation, is deliberate due to the fact that it has an operational shift - it binds crucial enemy forces which cannot be utilized to engage another sections of the front, and persistent attacks bleed out choice assault troops, first Wagner Groups, and now besides supporting regular forces. The command of the Ukrainian Defence Force (Sou) assumes that the losses to the opponent are many times greater than the losses to their own (although the communicative of the opposing organization is similar).
