Ukrainian citizen Volodymyr B. was accused of violating the physical integrity of the caregiver during her duties. The attack took place on 1 May at the Railway infirmary in Pruszków (Mazowieckie Province). By the way, I wonder if the police will shortly post on their pages information about the search as in the case of Ukrainian rape fishy in Płock, against which the prosecution besides did not apply preventive measures.
Aggression in the infirmary – detention and charges
On May 1, Pruszkow police intervened in a local infirmary where Volodymyr B. attacked a nurse. A man has been detained and has heard an accusation that threatens to be fined, restricted or up to 3 years imprisonment.
“Volodymyr B. confessed to the alleged act and explained that he had not remembered what was going on in his life since Thursday, and he did not remember why he was hospitalized. He was given an IV, at night he couldn't sleep, around 5.00 a.m. he felt sleepy, while he woke up as the police had already arrived" - explained the spokesperson of the territory Attorney's Office in Warsaw, Proc. Piotr Antoni Skiba.
The fishy testified he remembered a female covered in blood, but he didn't know why. He admitted that he had kicked her with his leg, but claimed that “the first time he had specified a thing and never in his life hurt a woman.”
Exemption and further investigation
After the hearing, the man was released and transferred to the care of a loved one. However, the prosecution announced further activities, including forensic and psych examinations.
"In the absence of any grounds for the application of the preventive measure, the man was released and transferred to the nearest individual who undertook to take care of him," added Proc. Skiba.
Details of the attack
Witnesses testified that Volodymyr B. tried to get out of bed, even though he was connected to medical equipment. As the caregiver tried to calm him down, he began to punch her in the face and head and then kick her.
“Suddenly Volodymyr B. wobbled on his feet, and the victim feared that he would fall down, sustained him all the time, telling him to lie down. At 1 point the patient turned to the victim and began to strike her, first with a fist in the face, then into the area of the face and head" – he told Prok. Skiba.
The caregiver suffered a cut in her forehead and lip and an eye hematoma. The expert assessed that the injuries caused a breach of body organ function for a period not exceeding 7 days.
Next attacks on medical personnel
The Pruszkow incidental is another act of force against wellness professionals. On 29 April at the University infirmary in Kraków, orthopedic Tomasz Sołecki was killed, attacked with a knife by a patient dissatisfied with treatment. In January in Siedlce, a drunk man killed a 62-year-old paramedic.
Justice Minister Adam Bodnar announced changes in law to increase the protection of medical personnel.
