Ukraine's abroad Minister Andrij Sybiha confirmed that president Volodymyr Zelenski is planning to rotate ambassadors in the G7 and G20 countries. Among those mentioned is the current Ambassador to the USA Oksana Markarowa. Prime Minister Denys Szmyhal, Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefaniszyna and Defence and Energy Ministers are considered in her place. The decisions are to be announced after the gathering of the ambassadors on 21 July in Kiev.

Earlier, the media speculated that Markarova could be replaced by the current Prime Minister Denys Szmyhal. His resignation has been discussed for weeks in Ukrainian political circles.

Sybiha explained that Markarov was subject to a rotational cycle in diplomatic service. «Oksana Markarowa is 1 of our most effective ambassadors - highly effective, charismatic - but, as we know, each diplomat is subject to a rotational cycle" - said Sybiha, quoted by Interfax-Ukraine.

Strengthening Ukrainian diplomacy

The Minister stressed that the president of Ukraine's imagination assumes rotation in all G7 and G20 countries. Ukraine wants to strengthen its diplomacy in these directions, especially in relations with the United States.

Sybiha announced about 20 presidential decisions to change ambassadors. They are to be announced after the gathering of the ambassadors in Kiev on 21 July.

On Monday, the media reported that Zelenski was talking about Markar exchange during a telephone conversation last week with US president Donald Trump. The list of candidates for her successor is to be Prime Minister Szmyhal, Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefaniszyna, Defence Minister Rust Umierov and Energy Minister Herman Haluszchenko.

The RBK-Ukraine portal reminded that there have been rumors in Kiev about the upcoming changes in government and the release of Prime Minister Shmyhal. Zelenski would see Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Julia Swyridenko in this position.
