"We have not seen Mr. Kellogg's full interview, just a fewer quotes on the election, so it is hard to full measure his position," said Łytwyn, Zelenski's communications advisor. "But if his plan is just a ceasefire and election, it is simply a failed plan — Putin cannot be intimidated by just these 2 things," he stressed in a written message to Reuters.
The Agency recalled that Kiev has repeatedly reiterated that it does not want a ceasefire without obtaining safety guarantees that would halt Moscow from renewing its forces and another invasion in the future.
Łytwyn pointed out that Ukraine would like to see a "more thorough" approach by officials of key global partners to its problems. "However, we remember that president Trump spoke profoundly and wisely at meetings with president Zelenski about the situation and what might actually put force on Putin," he pointed out.
The Ukrainian authorities had previously praised Trump's position as "peace through strength" and said that the safety guarantees for Kiev after the war with Russia would only be effective if they were given by the United States.
