"In order to keep the law and order and to guarantee the main needs of the population in controlled (by Ukraine) territories (Russia) a military commandant was established, and its chief was appointed General (Eduard) Moskalov," said Syrski at a gathering of the state's ultimate leadership with president Volodymyr Zelenski at the head. The commander-in-chief reported that from the beginning of the day, Ukrainian forces have moved up to 1.5 km deep into the Kursk region and presently control 1150 square kilometers of Russian territory.
