Ambassadors of the European Union countries agreed to remove 2 Russian businessmen, Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Fridman from the EU sanction list. Both were sanctioned on 28 February 2022, just a fewer days after Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The decision is part of a broader compromise on extending EU sanctions against thousands of Russian people and entities.
